Dr. Hartsell is board certified from the ANCC in the clinical areas of Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She earned her undergraduate degree in Nursing from UNC-Greensboro with a Major Concentration in Community Health Education. She went on to Duke University, earning her MSN in Administration of Nursing Systems in 1996 and a Post-Masters from the FNP program in 1999 from Duke University. In 2006, she furthered her training, earning another Post-Masters in Family Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from Rush University in Chicago. Dr. Hartsell earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Duke University in 2012 focusing on improving quality medical services by implementing and measuring evidence-based care. She has completed training for Anthroposophical Nurse Practitioner through the Physicians’ Association for Anthroposophical Medicine (PAAM) and completing a fellowship in Functional Psychiatry through Psychiatry Redefined. Dr. Hartsell has extensive training in meditative practices, the use of Mandalas in treatment, and Spiritual Direction through The Alcyon Center. She is developing skills in integrating plant essences used in care.
Dr. Hartsell brings a wealth of experience to Integrative Behavioral Health and Healing Practice having worked in private practice for over 20 years in addition to experiences as a Nurse Manager at the VA Hospital, Director of Psychiatric Service at Moses Cone Hospital, Home Health Care, Pediatric Care at the NC Baptist Hospital, and teaching Behavioral Health in Primary Care.
Dr. Hartsell’s schedule is open to children, adolescents, adults, and families. Special areas of interest include providing traditional and non-traditional care within the most complex psychiatric disorders.
