Karen R. Lavieri, MSN, PMHNP-BC, FNP-C

Karen Lavieri is a dual-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in healthcare delivering compassionate, evidence-based care across diverse medical and mental health settings. She is board certified by both the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

Karen holds both graduate and post-graduate Master’s degrees in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her undergraduate education includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Johnston Community College. Her diverse educational background reflects her lifelong commitment to learning and professional growth.

Karen brings a unique blend of expertise to mental health care. She treats a wide range of conditions like depression, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia, with special attention to complex cases that involve both the mind and brain.With a strong background in neurology and years of experience in primary care, Karen looks at the whole person not just symptoms. Her approach is thoughtful, compassionate, and fully integrated, helping you feel better both mentally and physically.

Karen has worked across a variety of healthcare environments, including acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living, primary care clinics, and community health centers. She has a longstanding dedication to serving diverse and underserved populations, including veterans, migrant farm workers, and individuals in both rural and urban communities. Her approach is rooted in cultural sensitivity, trauma-informed care, and a belief that true healing begins with being seen, heard, and understood.

Outside of her professional life, Karen loves spending time with her family, discovering new places, different cuisines, and keeping energized with regular workouts to stay active and balanced.
