Karen Day Nicholson, MSN, FNP-C

A native of Southern California, Karen earned her BSN from Azusa Pacific University and went on to earn her Master of Science degree in Nursing from Duke University in 2015. While studying at Duke University, she graduated at the top of her class, earning membership into the national nursing honors society, Sigma Theta Tau. Karen is accredited by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Karen brings a wealth of experience to Integrative Behavioral Health & Healing Practice with experience in critical care/transplant, high-risk obstetrics, primary care, pediatrics, urgent care, and psychiatry. She has studied in a post-masters medical fellowship under the tutelage of Dr. James Greenblatt in Integrative & Functional Psychiatry and is an integrative and functional psychiatry practitioner. With her advanced certification in functional psychiatry, Karen is able to utilize a combination of nutraceuticals and psychopharmacology to help her patients reach optimum wellness. She focuses on creating a collaborative therapeutic environment with her patients and recognizes that one size does not fit all. 

Her schedule is open to treat patients 8 and older. Her special interests and research lie in treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychiatric management of women during the preconception, prenatal, and postpartum stages with an emphasis on the management of postpartum mood disorders as well as helping patients cope with infertility. Karen also provides gender-affirming care for the LGBTQ+ community. She enjoys learning new gourmet techniques to cook, spending time with her husband and two sons, and spending time with her two lovable wrinkly pugs, Jack Nicholson and Lilah.
